Physics Glossary
The show's creator, Barbara Hall, is said to be a science
geek, or a "woman of science". Physics is often used to allegorize concepts throughout Joan of Arcadia.
Here's a few of them.
- Energy can be neither created or destroyed. The total amount of energy and
matter in the Universe remains constant, merely changing from one form to another.
- In all energy exchanges, if no energy enters or leaves the system, the potential
energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial state.
- Special Theory of Relativity - The nature of the universe must not change for an observer if their inertial state changes.
- Uncertainty Principle - In quantum mechanics, two observable quantities, such as the position and the momentum of a particle, cannot
be both measured to a precise value at the same time.
